Peter established Dawson & Associates in 2007 as a dedicated maritime and commercial law practice, after 20 years providing specialist maritime legal services to a range of national and international interests. These include cargo and salvage interests, vessel owners, charterers, insurers, bunker suppliers, vessel agents and others. Renee joined Dawson & Associates in October 2009 after relocating to Nelson from Wellington with her young family. After graduating with her LLB from Otago University, Renee joined Bell Gully in Wellington where she worked in the employment law team and the corporate/commercial department. Renee assists us on a project basis when required. She has a particular interest in Employment law, particular as it pertains to crew contracts.

Forrester joined Dawson & Associates in September 2010 with the intention of pursuing a career in maritime law. After spending a year in Nelson familiarising himself with the culture of the firm, and getting his feet wet, he is now based in Auckland and lives on the North Shore. After graduating with a LLB from the University of Auckland, Forrester joined the Intellectual Property and Information Technology team at Kensington Swan in Auckland. During his LLB he had a particular interest in maritime law, having studied with Paul Myburgh of the University of Auckland. Forrester has interests in mountain biking, wake boarding and any sport that involves an abundance of adrenalin.

Annette returned to Nelson from overseas in 2007, joining Dawson & Associates in its early start up phase, as PA to Peter Dawson. Annette has worked primarily in the postal industry in New Zealand and overseas, as a market intelligence specialist, and as a policy analyst, project managing a review and developing policy for a government regulator.
In addition to her role of PA, Annette is actively involved in business development and the marketing of Dawson & Associates.

Fiona joined Dawson & Associates as a legal secretary in late 2010 after working as a PA at a Nelson law firm for three years.
The move brings her closer to home and gives her more time to spend with her young son.
After doing the big Kiwi OE Fiona decided to move to Nelson, has been here for ten years now, and considers herself almost a local.
Fiona has studied Environmental Science at NMIT and has a love for the outdoors. In her time off she heads straight for the beautiful forests, mountains and coastline that surround the “top of the South”.
